4in1 Game Pack Game by Sega Reviewed by Insecta insecta@email.com Size: 2 megabits Save: None Released: 1992 Works with: Game Gear **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: This game came bundled with my Game Gear, but I never really liked it that much. It's not bad, but the games are only mini games. I am reviewing it, even though it's a multi cart, but they aren't commercial games. **************************************************************************** Gameplay Description: In the 4in1 Game Pack, there are 4 games (duh!) which are Columns, Rally, Penalty Shoot Outs and Tennis. The games will keep you busy for about 10 minutes, then you realise you have better things to do with your Game Gear, or life. Columns is a cut down version of the single release version, where you link blobs to get rid of them, not very fun. Tennis has you hitting balls at a rival, who hits them back. The rule of Tennis do apply, and the ball bounces. The best of the games. Rally sees a car driving through half 3D terrain, to get to check points in time. It's not very inspired. Then, you have penalty's where you select a way to kick a ball and hope the goalkeeper won't block it. Then you take a turn at blocking, which is neither easy or fun. It's slightly better then having Tetris with your Gameboy, but that's not hard to beat. Liked: Four games, in one! Hated: You can get twenty one proper games, in one illegal cartridge. **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: The graphics are nice and colourful, with some nice options screens. The people look like they should, as does everything else. The only graphic touches worth noting are the 3Dish rally stages and the title screen art. Nothing new here. Liked: Rally. Hated: Same old graphics. **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: Again, the music is nothing spectacular with the same options screen music everywhere and cheery, march music for the games. The sounds are pretty good, fit the games they are put in. Once again, there is nothing great, but it's not bad. Liked: Rally music is really suited. Hated: No music in Tennis. **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: Each game has it's own controls which work very well, they are very responsive. Tennis works very well, as do the rest. The game design is nice, but you have to turn off the Game Gear to get to another game. Another standard fare. Liked: Good game select menu. Hated: Have to turn off to select a new game. **************************************************************************** Improve: Better games. RIYL: Mini Games **************************************************************************** Final Words: I can't recall seeing this available without a Game Gear, but I wouldn't get it anyway. Just get one decent game and you'll be happy longer. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: ** Graphics: *** Sound/Music: *** Play Control/Game Design: *** Personal Opinion: ** Total: 52% Final Score: 61% **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: None
