Joe & Mac Game by Data East Reviewed by Kaosu lordkaosu@myrealbox.com Size: 2 megabits Save: none Released: 1993 Works with: all Gameboys **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: I sure did like the SNES version of Joe & Mac so I figured I'd pick up the GB version thinking it'd be similar to the SNES. **************************************************************************** Gameplay Descripion: Gameplay is pretty good. Your character controls fast, feels solid. It just too bad your character still doesn't have enough moves to avoid the cheap enemy shots. Liked: Good overall feel Hated: Not good enough to avoid the cheap enemies **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: This game has some very nice graphics with fairly good detail for an old Gameboy game. Everything just looks great. Liked: Nice details Hated: Nothing **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: Nice music, fits the atmosphere of the game perfectly. Simple sounds effects, they do the trick. Liked: Good music, didn't get annoying Hated: Nothing **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: Game controls pretty good. Your character is fast and he can even change direction in mid-air. It has a nice solid feel to it. Problem comes up here where the enemies are very fast and can stay right on top of you killing you very fast. If you jump away from them, they will change direction staying underneath you. This becomes very hard to avoid. Liked: Good overall control Hated: Cheap enemies, too fast for the small screen **************************************************************************** Improve: All that I can really think of is how hard the game is, make the enemies just a bit easier and not so cheap. Maybe this would've worked on a console system, but for a handheld there is not enough room on the screen how fast the enemies are. RIYL: Prehistorik Man, Adventure Island 1 & 2 **************************************************************************** Final Words: If you like very tough games due to cheap enemies and have lots of patience, give this one a shot. It's a good game if you can get past that. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: *** Graphics: **** Sound/Music: **** Play Control/Game Design: ** Personal Opinion: ** Total: 15/25 Final Score: 60% **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: None
