Since I am too poor to get a GameCube and a DVD player, I cannot review it. This is of the special and the special alone. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Impressions: Well, the special was a long time coming. After the events in "Mewtwo Strikes Back," Mewtwo and his army of super-clones left New Island and traveled to a very isolated place in the Johto reigon called "Purity Lake." They traveled there mainly because humans couldn't live there due to the big storms that occur there. He erased the memories of his existence to everyone except for Giovanni, who's ready to capture him again. He sends one of his top agents, Domino, to trap Mewtwo. Meanwhile, Ash, Misty, and Brock have come to Purity Mountain because it is Johto's greatest natural wonder. Unfortunately, they miss the monthly bus trip around the mountain, but they stay with Luna, who studies the lake. They meet two young researchers, one of which is Domino in disguise, when Jesse, James, and Meowth show up. They capture Pikachu and fly away on rockets they attached to their balloon. The whole group chases after them, and soon everyone lands in Purity Lake. Mewtwo and the clones meet the kids again, just as Giovanni arrives to re-capture Mewtwo. Can Ash save Mewtwo and the clones? Will the rumors of Giovanni being Ash's father be put to rest? Probably not, but Giovanni doesn't react in the least when he sees Ash. Anyway, onto the movie itself. The actual movie is pretty good. The animation is slick and fluid. It's the same animation used in the newest intros to the TV show, so everything has more shadow and the gang actually have tans. Everyone's voices are the same from the movie, but one thing surprised me. No Mew. He only showed up in a vision near the end of the movie. I thought Mew lived with Mewtwo and the clones. Oh well. And you figure Mewtwo would head to that mountain in South America that he kept seeing in the first movie, but I guess Ash couldn't get to South America. Also, the movie lacks action. The Pikachu and Meowth clones are the only ones that do anything. Late in the movie, all the clones and good guy humans are tied up using metal band things. Now, most of the Pokémon don't need to be tied up to use their powers, so why didn't they? If I were one of the Pikachu, I'd shock Domino and all the Team Rocket agents. Also, any specific reason why Ash, Misty, and Brock never use their Poké Balls when they're tied up? I'm sure Onix, Cyndaquil, or Noctowl could help them out. Speaking of which, Brock and Misty prepare to battle late in the movie, yet they never do. Then there's Mewtwo. All he did was destroy a few robots and move water. Yea... Liked: The animation, the voice acting, return of Mewtwo! Hated: Mewtwo didn't do much, clones didn't do much, humans didn't do much, no Mew. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Improve: Include Mew more, actually have the clones do something, have Ash & co. use their brains for once, more action. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Final Words: Even though it looks like I don't like the special, I actually do. I've watched it 5 times already. It's a very well-made special, although it could have been better. Anyway, I strongly urge all Pokémon fans to watch this at least once. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Score: 90% +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Secrets: Uhhh, it doesn't come with any special card so...it includes Ledian (sorry, Foyusa) and a bunch of Bug-type Pokémon?
