Wario Land VB Game by Nintendo Reviewed by Adrock gbcam@hotmail.com Size: 16 megabits (2 megabytes!) Save: Battery, 3 slots Released: 1995 **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: Hmm... there was SML3 (Wario Land 1), this game, then Wario Land 2. Does that mean this game is a spinoff? After all, it was originally called Wario Cruise. Wario was the star of all the Virtual Boy demos and stuff that were shown off at the Shoshinkai shows and E3. **************************************************************************** Gameplay Descripion: This is one of the few games that were fun to play on the Virtual Boy. You play as Wario. Apparently, the pirates have come back to take Wario's treasure and reclaim it. You must fight through 16 worlds of foreground and background action. This is an awesome game. The levels are varied, the enemies are varied, it's a whole new, fun experience. The Virtual Boy's 3D perspective lets you hop back and forth from different "layers" of the level. You must find the key to leave each level, and if you want to be a really good player, you'll have to find all of the hidden treasure rooms as well. Liked: Awesome game! Almost worth buying the system for! Hated: More levels. **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: I must say that this is one of the most eye-popping games in the Virtual Boy library. The Virtual Boy died without being totally tapped for it's potential, but this game lets it fizz just a little. Wario's cunning attitude and wit shine through the look of the game. Liked: They couldn't have done graphics like this on any other system. Hated: When playing in the background, your characters are small. VB's blurring. **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: The songs were adrenaline pumped. Some of it sounds like techno or something. Once again, the songs are sly and Wario's character shines through them. Liked: Songs with a great beat. Hated: No voice samples. **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: Overall, the control is good. But pressing L to run is kind of tough to remember. Liked: Good, solid, Mario par controls. Hated: You'll have to get used to running. **************************************************************************** Improve: Put this game on any other system besided Virtual Boy. RIYL: Anything Mario or Wario. **************************************************************************** Final Words: An all around solid game. The fun factor is off the scale. But unfortunately, since VB is dead, you probably won't find it. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: ***** Graphics: ***** Sound/Music: ***** Play Control/Game Design: **** Personal Opinion: **** Total: 23 Final Score: %92 **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: None.
